I have quickly set up this site to show you what the conditions are like in Pinecrest.
On the way up It was extremely smoky starting outside of Oakdale. The worst was in Twain Harte and Miwok Village.

We arrived at 9:00am and the campground was not as bad as I expected it to be. I expected ash on everything and there wasn't. It looked like the campfire smoke we usually see in the morning. It got heavier and then clear a little in the late afternoon. This morning we were seeing some blue sky. However the smell of smoke was the deciding factor to leave. From there we took hwy 108 over the Sonora Pass. The smoke lightened some but was still in the air above Kennedy Meadows. It cleared at the Marine Corp Training Center. We lunched at Mono Lake. The ranger told us hwy 120 at Tioga was closing at noon. So here we stayed at Topaz Lake in Nevada. It was clear but the smoke is catching up with us.
Too much smoke to see across the lake
C Loop in the campground
The sun was amber from so much smoke
We thought this was an odd sight considering the circumstances
