Oatman, Arizona

Oatman is an old mining town founded in 1906. The burros were brought to the town by the miners and used both inside and outside the mines. In 1942 as the mines closed and people left, the burros were released into the mountains. The descendants of these burros will come into town when the tourists are around. They know the tourists will feed them.

Disappointingly, we didn't see any burros in town. We might have been too early for them. As we were driving out of town there was one on the road so we stopped. The pictures explain what happened next. My pound of baby carrots went fast. They even followed me back to the car.
